Fairbairn Sykes Knife Presented to John Solomon

Presentation Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife presented to Lieutenant General John A. Samford (1905 - 1968 by his staff.  He was the World War II 8th Air Force Chief of Staff and later became the Director of National Security Agency (1956 - 1960). The knife is 100% original and the  condition is like new with aging to the original leather. A highly desirable WW II artifact from a decorated WWII officer that went on to serve our country in an appointed position.

WW II artifacts include both the military issued items and the social treasures from a time in American history where Americans were united. GI's used their gear and weapons in combat, remembered their sweethearts at home with gifts and letters and sent home or carried home a variety of wartime treasures. Perhaps there is not a larger range of collectibles known from any American era than there is with WWII. Regardless many of the available collectible come with first hand accounts of which many are still alive today! The 100th anniversary of the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, which President Franklin Delano Roosevelt describe as; "a date which will live in infamy." is less than 25 years away. No doubt this will be a remarkable time in history for WW II collectibles as Generations Y and X and our Millennials enjoy WW II artifacts.
